PicturePostcard: Forza Fiume

There are certainly bigger, more state of the art football stadiums around the globe, but rarely is one situated in such a beautiful setting as Kantrida stadium in Rijeka. Cut into the cliff on one side and bordering with the Adriatic see on the other earned the stadium the place among CNN’s World’s most unusual football stadiums in 2011. Word is stadium will be getting a major facelift (in the same location) since at the moment it does not satisfy UEFA standards. Even though this is a fairly small stadium, LED screen they have is, with it’s 80 sqm, the biggest one in Croatia. And figure this, it is only 20 sqm smaller than the one on San Siro stadium.

Kantrida got it’s name after the neighborhood it is situated in, it is home to HNK Rijeka and Armada, Rijeka supporters.
