Sziget Eye – Budapest

We have a new thing on our skyline. For exactly one week today Sziget Eye ferris wheel is turning in Budapest downtown.

We went for a ride last Saturday, on a beautiful sunny day. The ferris wheel is situated on Erzsebet square. 65 m high wheel, with 41 (+1 VIP) air-conditioned cabins (each seating 8 people) goes for about 10 minutes in one go. With prices of 2400 Ft for adults and 1500 Ft for kids under 140 cm tall it is not the cheapest family outing in Hungary, but it is worth to do it at least once. We shared a cabin with a boy of about 7 years old, who was saying this is the ride of life. He recognized all the sights: Matthias Church, Andrassy Av., Váci street, St Stephen Cathedral… He knew all the trivia about the wheel itself, eg. that it is currently the biggest mobile ferris wheel in Europe and about 20 meters bigger than last year’s wheel from Sziget.

Sziget Eye will operate at Erzsébet square from Sundays to Thursdays between 10-24 and on Fridays and Saturdays between 10 and 02.00 until July 22, when it will move to Sziget Fesztival 2013.
